Goucher Men's Golf Rallies For Goucher Spring Invitational Title
PHOENIX, Md. – Goucher College rallied from a six-stroke deficit in heavy winds to win the Goucher Men's Golf Spring Invitational on Monday.
The start of the second round was moved up to 8:30 a.m. to try to avoid the winds, but the weather decided to come early and teams played through a heavy wind throughout the final round.
The Gophers went into the final round trailing Lynchburg by six strokes after shooting a 303 on Sunday. Goucher then posted a 325 in the second round on Monday to finish eight strokes ahead of the Hornets in the round to beat Lynchburg by two strokes with a score of 628. It was the team's first win since taking the Landmark Conference Preview to end the fall season. Goucher will next set its sights on claiming its second-straight Landmark Conference Tournament title at the Landmark Conference Championships in Harrisburg, Pa., on May 4-5.
Evan Yue (Beijing, China/IMG Academy), Julian Gonzalez (Heredia, Costa Rica/Berkeley Academy), Roberto Mikse (Fort Worth, Texas/Jim McClean Junior Academy) and Steph Lee (Manalapan, N.J./Saint John Vianney) each finished in the Top-8 to pace the Gophers to the victory.
Yue entered the final round in third place with an even round of 72 on Sunday and then posted an 83 in the final round to finish with a two-round score of 155, three strokes behind the medalist. Gonzalez shot a two-over round of 74 in the first round and an 82 in the final round to card a 156 for the tournament and finish one stroke behind Yue in fourth place.

Lee shot a 78 and 82 in the two rounds to place eighth with a two-round score of 160.
