Yue Two: Evan Yue Found What He Was Looking For With Second Landmark Conference Player of the Week Nod
BALTIMORE, Md. – Evan Yue (Beijing, China/IMG Academy), a member of the Goucher College men's golf team, has been named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week for the week of April 15-21. It is the second time he has earned the conference honor.
Yue finished third at the Goucher Spring Invitational on Monday. The sophomore shot an even round of 72 in the opening round at the Gophers home course and then carded an 83 in the final round while battling heavy winds throughout the round to finish with a two-round score of 155, three strokes behind the medalist. In addition, the sophomore helped the Gophers rally from a six-stroke deficit to win the team title by two strokes over Lynchburg College. Goucher shot a 303 in the opening round and a 325 in the final round for a two-round score of 628.
Yue is averaging 78.31 strokes per round and has finished in the Top-5 twice this season. The sophomore has been the team's top golfer in each of the last two events leading up to the Landmark Conference Men's Golf Championships in May.
The sophomore was also named the conference Player of the Week for the week of March 26-April 1, 2018. Goucher has earned the award five times this season after freshman Julian Gonzalez (Heredia, Costa Rica/Berkeley Academy) earned the honor four times this season.
The Gophers look to claim its second Landmark Conference title at the Landmark Conference Men's Golf Championships at the Dauphin Highlands Golf Course in Hershey, Pa., on May 4-5.
