Goucher Men's Golf Evan Yue Named A Landmark Conference Athlete Of The Week
BALTIMORE, Md. – Evan Yue (Beijing, China/IMG Academy), a member of the Goucher College men's golf team, has been named a Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week.
With the unprecedented cancellation of spring sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Landmark will be recognizing an athlete from each member institution in each conference-sponsored spring sport for the remainder of the academic year. Honorees were nominated for recognition by their respective institution.
Yue paced the team with a 75.6 strokes per round average in eight rounds of competition. In the five events the junior did not finish lower than 17th place and finished in the Top-10 in his last three competitions. The junior finished 10th at the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic with a two-round score of 151 to help the Gophers finish to third at the event on September 29. Yue then helped Goucher repeat as the Landmark Conference Fall Preview champions after shooting a round of 77 to finish fourth on October 5. He then wrapped up what turned out to be his season by carding a 76 to place ninth at the Franklin & Marshall Fall Invitational on October 14.
Yue has helped the Goucher men's golf team to a pair of Landmark Conference Men's Golf Championships in his first two seasons and the squad was the preseason pick to three-peat before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. The junior was named to the All-Landmark Conference second team as a freshman after finishing seventh at the championships in 2018 with a two-round score of 164 and then earned first-team honors last year after carding a 151 in the two rounds to place fifth. Yue also participated in the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships in his first two seasons in Baltimore.
