Second Round Cancelled, Gophers Fifth at Alvernia
MOHNTON, Pa. - The Goucher College men's golf "B" team placed fifth at the Alvernia Spring Invitational at Ledgerock Golf Club on Monday. Originally a two-round event, Tuesday's second round was cancelled due to inclement weather on Tuesday morning.
The Gophers carded a 316 to place fifth in a tight field that saw the top seven within six strokes. St. Lawrence took first with a 311, followed by Stevens (312) and Washington & Jefferson (313). The host Golden Wolves were fourth at 314, with the Gophers two shots back. Albright and Eastern tied for sixth at 317.
Zeer Vittadanont led Goucher with a round of 78 as he tied for 13th place. Vittadanont birdied the par-3 14th hole and had seven bogeys during his round.
Gidi Katz and Mikolaj Pula tied for 19th as they each carded a 79. Katz posted back-to-back birdied on the par-5 eighth hole and the par-4 ninth.
Tyler Lynch notched a pair of birdies during his round and posted an 80 as he placed tied for 24th. Andy Hill Garcia shot an 82 on Monday. He recorded a birdie at No. 12.
Goucher men's golf returns to action this weekend (April 6-7) when they compete at the Catholic Spring Classic at Black Rock Golf Club in Hagerstown, Maryland.
