Buttner Third, Gophers Second at Dickinson Spring Invite
CARLISLE, Pa. - Goucher College men's golf senior Khai Buttner shot an even-par 72 to finish tied for third to lead the Gophers to a second-place finish out of 14 teams at the Dickinson College Spring Invite at Carlisle Barracks Golf Course on Sunday.
As a team the Gophers shot a season-best 298, finishing 10 strokes over par. The 298 is tied for the fourth-best team round in program history. Goucher finished eight shots behind tournament champion Swarthmore, who finished at 290. Catholic and Dickinson A tied for third at 301, while Catholic B was fifth at 305.
Buttner finished tied with Luke Vance of Dickinson and Jack Walsh of Catholic at even par, two shots behind Catholic's Colin Coogan and Swarthmore's Benji Garcia.
Evan Yue and Riley Ruby each shot three-over 75s to finish tied for 12th overall. Andy Hill Garcia shot 76 to finish tied for 14th, while Zeer Vittadanont carded an 84.
Goucher has its final tuneup before the Landmark Conference Championship on Thursday when it competes in the Stevenson Spring Invitational at Piney Branch Golf Course.
