Gophers Finish First at Catholic Cardinal Classic
HAGERSTOWN, Md. - The Goucher College Men's Golf team traveled to compete in day two of the Catholic Cardinal Classic.
The team sat in second after day one. After a better performance from the first day, the Gophers were able to overtake Stevenson to secure first. This came after a score of 296 in round one, and a score of 294 today. Overall, this set the team at +14, sitting six better than the second place finisher.
Sophomore Riley Ruby finished second in the classic. After a school-record setting performance on day one, Ruby shot a 74 in round two for a total score of 143, sitting -1 to par.
Teammates Tyler Lynch and Andy Hill Garcia tied for 9th in the contest with a score of 149. This came after Lynch shot a 75 in round one, and a 74 in round two. Garcia shot a 77 in round one, and then followed up with a 72 in second round.
Rounding out the first team was Gidi Katz and Mikolaj Pula who tied for 13th with a score of 151. Katz shot a 77 on day one, and came back with a score of 74 on day two. While Pula remained almost even with a score of 75 the first day and 76 the second.
The B team finished 10th overall, with a score of 644. The team was led by Samuel Tyson who sat tied in 20th with a score of 153. Mattias Hammendorp finished with a 154 to sit tied at 22nd.
The team was rounded out by Zeer Vittadanont who was tied for 41st with a 161, and Sulien Leon-Bromley who was tied for 57th with a 176.
The Gophers return to action at the Stevenson Spring Invitational at Piney Branch Golf Course in Upperco, Maryland. They will compete on Monday, April 14th.
