Averett, Boncaro Split 10 Goals in 12-4 Victory
TOWSON, Md. — Rory Averett (Ivyland, Pa./Council Rock North) scored the first goal by either team in all four periods and he and Kyle Boncaro (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) finished with five goals apiece as Goucher polished off Randolph-Macon, 12-4, this afternoon at Beldon Field.
Gophers Improve to 3-2 by Turning Back Yellow Jackets

N.Y./Geneva) finished with five goals apiece as Goucher
polished off Randolph-Macon, 12-4, this afternoon at Beldon
Field.
The Gophers (3-2) led 5-1 at the end of the first quarter. Averett tallied Goucher's first two goals and was awarded an assist on the second of the two goals Boncaro stuck in the final 3:26 of the period.
Averett put the Gophers ahead 6-1 when he scored his third goal of the contest 1:57 into the second quarter. Later in the period, Boncaro deposited two more goals and picked up an assist on a goal by Matt Lynch (Ivyland, Pa./LaSalle College) as Goucher stretched its lead over the Yellow Jackets (2-1) to 9-2 by halftime.
Averett provided the Gophers with a 10-2 lead with an unassisted goal 1:52 into the third period and then an 11-3 advantage when he completed his five-goal, two-assist effort by nailing his team-leading 14th goal of the season 2:12 into the fourth quarter.
Boncaro earned his third assist of the game on Averett's final goal before he tallied his fifth goal of the contest with 2:11 left to play, giving the sophomore attackman the third eight-point performance of his collegiate career.
Three of Ranolph-Macon's four goals were off of shots by Tyler Midwinter.
Chris Stricklin (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) started in goal for the Gophers and made nine saves while allowing only three goals in 55:46.
