MADISON, N.J. — Goucher produced two of the 14 recipients of Player of the Week honors from the Landmark Conference that were announced today for April 24-May 1.
Jaclyn Kellon (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel), the first runner to cross the finish line in both the 400-meter dash and the 400-meter hurdles at the 2011 Landmark Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships, was recognized as the Female Track Athlete of the Week.
The sophomore's winning time of :59.32 in the 400 dash is a new outdoor school record and she successfully defended her outdoor conference title in the 400 hurdles by completing the event in 1:05.51. In addition, Kellon ran the final leg on Goucher's first-place entry in the 4 x 400-meter relay and competed in the 4 x 100-meter relay, helping that unit finish in second place.
Connor Mishaw (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) was named Defensive Player of the Week for the sport of men's lacrosse following his career-high 21-save performance for the Gophers against Drew. It's the most saves for a Goucher goalkeeper since Reeves Craig turned away 21 shots against Salisbury back in 2005.
Mishaw has a 7.18 goals against average this season for the Gophers, who locked up the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Landmark Conference postseason tournament by knocking off the Rangers, 8-7, in triple overtime. The sophomore made six of his 21 saves during the three overtime periods.
