Goucher Fills Six Spots on 2011 All-Landmark Team

Dunn, Boncaro Earn All-Landmark Recognition for Third Straight Year

MADISON, N.J. — Justin Dunn (Denver, Colo./Mullen) and Kyle Boncaro (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) became the sixth and seventh players in the history of Goucher's men's lacrosse program to earn all-conference honors at least three times during their careers when they — along with four of their teammates — were included on the 2011 All-Landmark Conference Men's Lacrosse Team.

As revealed today, the team includes 24 student-athletes, with at least two from each of the six institutions in the Landmark Conference which sponsor men's lacrosse as an intercollegiate sport. Position-by-position voting was done by the head coaches and the balloting produced 12 first-team selections, including Dunn, and an equal number of players on a second unit.

Dunn is the lone senior among the six Goucher players who received all-conference recognition for their performance during the 2011 season and is a first-team defenseman for the third year in a row. A three-year starter, he led the Gophers with 46 caused turnovers and ranked second on the team in ground balls (53). In addition, he holds the school records for most caused turnovers in a game (7), a season (59) and a career (140).

The other two first-team selections from Goucher are junior midfielder Matt Lynch (Ivyland, Pa./LaSalle College) and junior attackman Rory Averett (Ivyland, Pa./Council Rock North).

Lynch repeated on the All-Landmark first team after supplying the Gophers with 30 goals and 26 assists in 2011. In addition to his 65 points, he finished the season with a .323 shooting percentage, 47 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.

Averett is also making his second appearance on the All-Landmark Team, moving up from the second team. He set a new single-season school record with his 53-goal effort in 2011, making him both the first player in the history of the Landmark Conference to surpass 50 goals in a season and Goucher's all-time leader in goals with 138 career goals.

Boncaro, sophomore long-stick midfielder Paul Taylor (San Antonio, Texas/St. Mary's Hall) and sophomore midfielder Zach Fratella (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) are Goucher's representatives on the All-Landmark second team.

Boncaro, a junior attackman who tallied 28 goals and was credited with a team-high 28 assists, was also on the All-Landmark teams in 2009 as a freshman and 2010 as a sophomore.

Taylor, who scooped up a team-leading total of 57 ground balls and forced opponents to make 37 turnovers, is making his inaugural appearance on the All-Landmark Team, as is Fratella, who turned in a 28-goal, 12-assist performance in his first season with the Gophers.
