Goucher Appears in Lacrosse Publication's Preseason Top 20

2011 Opponents: Gophers Will Host No. 7 Gettysburg on March 2

BALTIMORE, Md. — Lacrosse Magazine, the flagship publication of US Lacrosse, today released its preseason Division III national rankings which listed Goucher at No. 20.

The rankings, compiled by Lacrosse Magazine staff after consultations with coaches, suggest Tufts will successfully defend its NCAA Division III title in 2011 as the Jumbos are the preseason No. 1. Cortland follows at No. 2 in the rankings, followed by Salisbury at No. 3, Stevenson at No. 4 and Middlebury, which defeated Goucher, 10-6, in the opening round of the 2010 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship, at No. 5.

One of Goucher's 2011 opponents is ranked by the publication: Gettysburg at No. 7. The Gophers will host the Bullets on March 2.

This is the first time Goucher has appeared in a preseason Top 20. The Gophers are coming off a year in which they went 14-4, were champions of the Landmark Conference and earned a bid to the Division III playoffs.
