Boncaro Makes Fourth Appearance on All-Landmark Team

Four Additional Spots on First Team Go to Goucher Players

MADISON, N.J. — The three seniors who this season became the second, third and fourth players in the history of Goucher's men's lacrosse program to surpass 200 career points — along with three of their teammates — have been awarded spots on the 2012 All-Landmark Conference Men's Lacrosse Team.

As revealed today, the team includes 26 student-athletes representing six of the seven men's lacrosse programs which compete in the Landmark Conference. Position-by-position voting was done by the head coaches and the balloting produced 13 first-team selections and an equal number of players on a second unit.

Players from Goucher filled five of the spots on the first team: seniors Rory Averett (Ivyland, Pa./Council Rock North) and Kyle Boncaro (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) at attack, senior Matt Lynch (Ivyland, Pa./LaSalle College) at midfield, junior Paul Taylor (San Antonio, Texas/St. Mary's Hall) at close defense and junior Connor Mishaw (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) in goal.

Averett, who is making his third appearance on the All-Landmark Team, is Goucher's all-time leader in goals, having scored 183 so far during his four seasons with the Gophers. In addition, he ranks second in career points (228). Through the first 17 games this season, he has 45 goals and 15 assists.

Boncaro, who was the Rookie of the Year in the Landmark Conference back in 2009, is the first male lacrosse player from Goucher to earn all-conference honors four times. He is the program's all-time leader in points (264) and, with the 53 goals he's tallied through 17 games, he's tied the single-season record Averett established in 2011.

Lynch is a first-team All-Landmark midfielder for the third year in a row who was also an honorable mention on the USILA's Division III All-American Team in both 2010 and 2011. Including the 33 goals and 35 assists he has to his credit this season, his career totals stand at: 115 goals and 99 assists. He ranks fourth all-time at Goucher with 214 career points.

Taylor moves up to the All-Landmark first team after debuting on the second team as a sophomore last season. A starter in all 17 games so far this season and a key component of a unit that ranks seventh in the nation among Division III programs in scoring defense at 5.56 goals per contest, he leads the Gophers in caused turnovers (41) and ranks second on the team in ground balls (59).

Mishaw, who has also started every game so far this season, is an All-Landmark pick for the first time in his career, but it's a fitting honor for a player who ranks fourth in the nation among Division III goalkeepers with a 5.13 goals-against average. He is averaging 9.4 saves per game and his save percentage stands at .664.

Goucher, which will take on Drew in the finals of the Landmark Conference postseason tournament this Saturday, also placed one player on the All-Landmark second team in Bryce Carson (Wyomissing, Pa./Lancaster Country Day School). The junior close defenseman is a close second to Taylor in caused turnovers with 37 and has also scooped up 48 ground balls in his 17 starts this season.
