Junior Midfielder Scores Four Goals in Win Over Panthers
TOWSON, Md. — Pierce Ingram (Austin, Texas/Westwood) was rewarded today for his four-goal, two-assist performance in Goucher's season-opening 13-9 triumph over Birmingham-Southern on Saturday by being named the Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
The junior midfielder tallied the only goal the Gophers could muster during the opening 20 minutes of the contest as he put his team up 1-0 with an unassisted goal just 15 seconds into the first quarter. He had a goal and an assist in the third quarter, and then scored two goals during a 5-0 run in the fourth period that staked Goucher to a comfortable 13-8 lead over the Panthers with only 2:02 left to play.
Ingram is the second-leading returning scorer from last season's team as he supplied the Gophers with 23 goals and a pair of assists in 2012.
