Mishaw Earns Spot on Div. III All-America Team
PERRY, N.Y. — After he ranked third among all Division III goalkeepers in both goals-against average and save percentage last season as a junior, big things were expected out of Goucher's Connor Mishaw (Wilmington, Del/Brandywine) in 2013 even before Inside Lacrosse named him an honorable mention preseason Division III All-American back in December.
USILA Designates Senior GK as Honorable Mention
What Mishaw delivered this season satisfied those lofty expectations as he was listed as an honorable mention on the 2013 Division III All-America Team announced today by the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.
"That's a well-deserved honor for a young man who has meant so much to the success of our program during his four years at Goucher," commented Brian Kelly, who just completed his first season as head coach of the Gophers. "It took a little while for our young defense to come together this year, so when you factor in the demanding schedule we played, it's really remarkable that Connor had the outstanding year that he did."
Goucher has had only one other goalkeeper earn All-America honors: Reeves Craig was an honorable mention on the USILA's Division III All-America Teams in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
The starting goalkeeper in all 16 games this season, Mishaw made 186 saves and allowed only 140 goals to finish with a 9.17 GAA and a .571 save percentage. He was the Landmark Conference leader with a .707 save percentage in conference games and ranked second in GAA (4.93).
Mishaw is one of only four goalkeepers in the history of Goucher's men's lacrosse program to surpass 600 career saves.
