Landmark Honors Carson for Athletic, Academic Successes
TOWSON, Md. — Bryce Carson (Wyomissing, Pa./Lancaster Country Day School), a three-year starting defensemen for Goucher's men's lacrosse program, today was named the 2013 Landmark Conference Men's Lacrosse Senior Scholar Athlete.
First-Team All-Conference Pick with 3.70 Cumulative GPA
TOWSON, Md. — Bryce Carson (Wyomissing, Pa./Lancaster Country Day School), a three-year starting defensemen for Goucher's men's lacrosse program, today was named the 2013 Landmark Conference Men's Lacrosse Senior Scholar Athlete.
Recients of the conference's top academic award must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher and are selected based on their accomplishments in athletics and academics by a committee of Landmark officers, athletics directors and sports information directors.
Carson, a business management major with a minor in historic preservation carried a 3.70 cumulative GPA into his final semester at Goucher. Previously he had been recognized on the Landmark Spring Academic Honor Roll all three years in which he was eligble and had been one of the school's four selections for the Landmark Spring All-Academic Team in 2011 as a sophomore and again this year.
In addition, Carson was the recepient of Goucher's Scholar-Athlete Award, which goes to a junior who has maintained high standards of academic achievement and consistently demonstrated varied and admirable participation in athletics and extracurricular activities, in 2012.
During his four seasons with the Gophers, Carson appeared in all 71 games. In addition to serving as a captain during his final two seasons, he earned second-team All-Landmark Conference honors as a junior and was a first-team all-conference pick in 2013. He concluded his career with 99 caused turnovers, which ranks third all-time in the history of Goucher's men's lacrosse program.
Off the field, he served on the Goucher Leadership Council two years, plus he also spent two years on the Academic Honor Board.
