Inside Lacrosse Dubs Mishaw a Preseason All-American

Ranked Third in the Nation in Save Percentage, GAA in 2012 

BALTIMORE, Md. — Goucher graduated three All-Americans in the class of 2012, but Inside Lacrosse magazine expects senior Connor Mishaw (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) to follow in their footsteps, becoming one of the nation's elite goalkeepers in 2013.

In their 2013 Face-Off Yearbook, the staff of Inside Lacrosse magazine selected the Goucher goalie as an homorable mention on their list of the nation's top performers. 

In his second year as a starter, Mishaw was one of the most valuable members of the Gophers, which won a program-record 18 games, the second Landmark Conference championship in program history and the first NCAA tournament game in program history.

On the biggest stage of his career, Mishaw stopped 15 shots, anchoring a defense that held Washington (Md.) to just four goals in the NCAA tournament's first round. The Shoremen were held well below their scoring average of 10.0 goals per game in the contest which the Gophers won 5-4.

For the season, he posted a .657 save percentage and a 5.59 goals against average, both good for third in the nation. Those figures led all qualified Landmark Conference goalkeepers, leading opposing coaches to vote Mishaw to the all-conference first team.  

The Gophers may lean on defense more in 2013 as the team will look to replace three USILA All-Americans in Matt Lynch, Rory Averett and Kyle Boncaro. The three players combined to score 461 goals and hand out 268 assists during their four seasons at Goucher.
