TOWSON, Md. — Pierce Ingram (Austin, Texas/Westwood), who recorded a hat trick in each of Goucher's two most recent matches, has been recognized as the Landmark Conference's Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week. Ingram, a first-team all-conference performer last year, received the award for the third time in his career.
The senior co-captain nearly rallied the Gophers against McDaniel when the two teams squared off last Wednesday. He scored his third goal of the game with 43 seconds remaining, reducing Goucher's deficit to 7-6. Ingram got off another shot on the ensuing possession, but his effort was stopped by goalie Christian Dallmus.
No late comebacks were required on Saturday, with Ingram igniting a five-goal outburst in the second quarter of the Gophers' 8-3 victory over King's. All three of his goals came in that quarter, including a tally with 4:05 left that gave Goucher a 3-2 lead which it would not relinquish.
Ingram is now tied with Sam Morgan (Wilmot, N.H./Kearsarge Regional) for the team lead in goals with eight, and his 11 points place him in a three-way tie for first with Dylan Zook (Purcellville, Va./Loudoun Valley) and Owen Demmerly (Medford, N.J./Shawnee). He fired 18 shots in the Gophers' two matches last week, and he also picked up five ground balls.
Goucher looks for a second win in a row with a 7 p.m. home matchup against Messiah on Wednesday night.
