Bailey led the Gophers in points (3) while fellow juniors Derek Bitzer (Doylestown, PA) and Ruel Ellis (Austin, TX) chipped in with a goal each. Sophomore Zephen Harnish (Woodsboro, MD) rounded out the scoring for Goucher in the game.
Junior Leo Sementilli (Ellicott City, MD) chalked up his fourth assist of the season in only two games. Ellis and freshman Nicholas Patterson (East Lansing, MI) led the Gophers with three groundballs each.
Junior Matt Messerle played 45 minutes in the cage, accumulating eight saves – a team-high in the game. Freshman Bailey Fee (East Aurora, NY) and Alex Shields (Cockeysville, MD) split the remaining 15 minutes.
The Bullets were led by sophomore, Tommy Heller with five goals. Sophomore Chris Vadeur led Gettysburg with four groundballs.
Three goalies saw time, with junior Tim Brady holding onto the lion-share of the minutes, collecting five saves.
How it happened:
- The Bullets shut out the Gophers in the opening period while scoring five goals to create an early cushion.
- Goucher was the first to light up the scoreboard in the second quarter, but the Bullets answered back and extended their lead 9-2 heading into the locker room.
- Again, the Gophers were first to strike but were outpaced in scoring in the third stanza and Gettysburg maintained a strong lead, 15-4, heading into the final quarter.
- Goucher managed one goal in the fourth, but it was not enough to overcome the Bullets who earned their second win of the season 22-5.
- The Bullets' offense came out firing, tallying 49 shots to Goucher's 22.
- Gettysburg defense also came into the game ready to make a splash, causing eight turnovers.
