Previewing The 2019 Goucher College Men's Lacrosse Schedule

BALTIMORE, Md. – Goucher College men's lacrosse is scheduled to play a 16-game schedule for the 2019 season. The slate is highlighted by nine home games including four- and three-game homestands. 

The Gophers will open up their seventh season under Kelly at perennial nationally ranked Gettysburg on February 19 (UPDATE: Game was originally scheduled for February 20, but has been moved up a day due to the weather forecast). The Bullets have won all eight meetings in the series dating back to the 2010 season. Goucher looks to earn its third-straight season-opening win while the team will open a campaign on the road for the sixth time in seven years under Kelly. Staying on the road, the squad will travel to Randolph-Macon on February 23 with a series all knotted up at 9 games apiece after the Yellow Jackets won the last two meetings in a series that began in 1996.

Goucher will make its home debut against McDaniel on February 27. The program has posted a pair of one-goal victories in the last two seasons, but the Green Terror hold an 8-2 advantage since the series began in 1992. The squad will be looking to register a home-opening win for the third-consecutive season.

Lebanon Valley has been added to the schedule for 2019 and the bout will mark the first meeting between the two programs when they square off in Annville, Pa., on March 2.

The squad returns home for a four-game homestand and will play five of seven in the friendly confines of Beldon Field. Messiah (March 6), Delaware Valley (March 9), Gordon (March 11) and Neumann (March 13) will each come to town during the four-game home stretch.

The series with Messiah is tied at 3 after the Falcons have won the last three matchups since the two teams started playing each other in 2003. Just like Lebanon Valley, Delaware Valley is a new addition to the Gophers schedule with an inaugural meeting between the two programs. Gordon returns to the schedule with Goucher holding a 1-0 lead in the series after a 10-8 win in 2010. The Gophers also hold a 3-0 margin with Neumann in a series dating back to 2000 thanks to a 13-4 decision last season.

After the four games in Towson, the team will travel to Frostburg State for its final non-conference road game of the season on March 16. The Bobcats return to the schedule for the first time since 2012 when Goucher defeated Frostburg State 6-3 to take a 2-0 lead in a series that began in 2011.

The team will start Landmark Conference play on the road at Moravian on March 23. The Gophers hold a 7-0 lead in the series with the Greyhounds since 2007 after a 13-6 win last season.

The Gophers return home to close out the month of March against Elizabethtown on March 30. After winning the first two games in the series that was initiated in 2003, the Blue Jays have won the last five tilts including a regular season and postseason matchup in 2018.

To start the month of April, the team will travel Scranton on April 6 and to Catholic on April 10. Goucher ended a three-game losing streak against Scranton with a 12-10 victory while the Royals hold an 8-7 edge in the series since 2008. The Gophers hold a 21-3 advantage against Catholic since 1998 after a 6-5 win last year.

Goucher returns home to wrap up the regular season with three home games. Susquehanna (April 13), Immaculata (April 20) and Drew (April 27) will all come to town at the end of the season. 

Despite losing to Susquehanna last year, the Gophers hold a 9-4 lead in the all-time series since 2008. The match against Immaculata will be the second between the two programs after Goucher took last year's game 19-6 on the road. The Gophers defeated Drew 9-5 last season and hold a 13-5 advantage in a series that started in 1996

The top four teams in the standings advance to the Landmark Conference Tournament with the semifinals on May 1 and the championship game on May 4.

Goucher looks to return to the playoffs for the second-straight season and the fourth time under Kelly. The Gophers advanced to the Landmark Conference Championship Game in 2014 while competed in the semifinals in 2013 and 2018.
