Goucher Men's Lacrosse Falls At Moravian
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Goucher College lost its Landmark Conference men's lacrosse opener to Moravian on Saturday.
Mason Gorman (Boise, Idaho/Eagle) paced the Gophers with two goals and two assists. Gorman notched his best game of the season with his performance against the Greyhounds after recording a goal and an assist against Delaware Valley on March 9. It is his ninth multi-goal game of his career while it's the fifth time in his four seasons that he has dished out at least two helpers in a game.
Rashaan Evans (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) also posted a multi-goal performance with two tallies. The freshman has now scored in four-straight games and six of his last seven tilts. Evans has nine goals and four assists for 13 points.
Zephan Harnish (Woodsboro, Md./Walkersville) added a goal and an assist while Andrew Sade (Lewisberry, Pa./Northern York) also found the twine. Goucher's other goal recorded was an own goal. Harnish has registered at least one goal in all nine games this season and ranks second on the team with 20 tallies and seven assists for 27 points. Sade has posted a marker in eight of his nine games and ranks third on the squad with 16 goals for 16 points.
Moriavian and Goucher traded goals with the Gophers recording an own goal at 6:39 in the first quarter. The Greyhounds then took a 4-1 lead before Evans (1:33) and Gorman (0:27) each found the back of the net in the final 93 seconds to trim the margin to 4-3 going into the second quarter.
Moravian scored the first five tallies of the second quarter before Evans scored off Lukas Glaser's (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) first collegiate assist to cut the deficit to 9-4 at the break.
Gorman had the only goal in the third frame unassisted with 55 seconds remaining to make it a four-goal game. The Greyhounds then scored five of the final goals of the game with Sade scoring off a Gorman feeder at the 3:04 mark and Gorman setting up Harnish with 35 seconds left. Moravian earned the conference-opening win, 14-7.
Justin Lugo (Davie, Fla./Saint Andrew's School) made a career-high 23 saves for the Gophers.
Goucher is set to host its conference home opener against Elizabethtown College, the unanimous Landmark Conference preseason favorite, on March 30. Game time is 1 p.m.
