Goucher Men's Lacrosse Adopts Max Through The Team Up For 1 Organization

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Goucher College men's lacrosse team and Team Up For 1 Organization held an adoption ceremony for Max, a 12-year old boy whose challenges include autism, on Wednesday night in the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.

The ceremony included 30 friends and family of Max, the Goucher men's lacrosse team and media coverage from WMAR TV-2. Charlie Levine, the founder of Team Up For 1, presented Goucher College Director of Athletics/Associate Dean of Students Andrew Wu and men's lacrosse coaching staff with a plaque while the Gophers men's lacrosse captains presented Max with his MVP Trophy and the No. 13 jersey because that is Max's favorite number. Max's mom also had a moving speech to close out the ceremony and then everyone in attendance enjoyed cake.

Max has already been a part of team activities for several weeks, including meeting with the team during warmups, watching the game from the hill at Beldon Field and leading the team to the victory bell after a win. He has had the chance to ring the victory bell for Goucher wins against Delaware Valley (March 9), Gordon (March 11) and Neumann (March 13).

His father noted during an interview with WMAR TV-2 that the adoption ceremony was very special, but he really enjoys Max's interactions with the team especially when Max has gotten to ring the victory bell.

Max and the Goucher men's lacrosse team returns to action on Saturday at home against Elizabethtown College. Game time is 1 p.m.
