Goucher Men's Lacrosse Drops Landmark Conference Home Opener To Elizabethtown
BALTIMORE, Md. – Goucher College dropped its Landmark Conference men's lacrosse home opener against Elizabethtown College on Saturday.
Rashaan Evans (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) posted two goals for the Gophers while Mason Gorman (Boise, Idaho/Eagle) and Zephan Harnish (Woodsboro, Md./Walkersville) also found the twine in the loss.
Evans has scored two goals in a game in back-to-back games and has twinkled the twine in five-straight matches. The freshman has posted two or more goals three times this season and has 11 goals and four assists for 15 points on the year. Evans scored the first Goucher goal of the game off an assist from Jared Heath (Windham, N.H./New Hampton) with 4:39 left in the first quarter and then posted his second tally of the day unassisted with 21 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Gorman has scored in consecutive games and in three games this season. The senior has four goals and three assists on the year and 42 goals and 22 assists for 64 points in his career. Gorman got the scoring started in the second quarter off a feed from Eric Bowden (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) at the 11:19 mark.
Harnish has scored in all nine games this season and has recorded five contests with multiple goals and four games with a single tally. The senior leads the team with 21 goals and ranks second on the squad with 28 points. He has 63 goals and 23 assists for 86 points in his career. Harnish also found the twine in the second quarter unassisted with 3:03 on the clock.
Heath's helper was the fifth of the season and he also has eight tallies for 13 points while Bowden registered his first feeder of the year and second of his career.
Justin Lugo (Davie, Fla./Sant Andrew's School) made 11 saves In 40:38 minutes of action while Alex Shields (Lutherville, Md./Calvert Hall) turned away three shots in the final 19:22 minutes of work. Sam Gravel (Rockville, Md./St. Andrews Episcopal School) paced the defense with five ground balls and a caused turnover.
Elizabethtown used a 7-1 first quarter and 3-2 second quarter to take a 10-3 lead at halftime before a 7-0 third and 5-1 fourth period completed a 22-4 decision for the Blue Jays.
Goucher returns to action on Saturday at Scranton. Game time is 1 p.m.
