Patterson Named Landmark Conference Athlete Of The Week
BALTIMORE, Md. – Nick Patterson (East Lansing, Mich./Damonte Ranch), a member of the Goucher College men's lacrosse team, has been named a Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week.
With the unprecedented cancellation of spring sports due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Landmark will be recognizing an athlete from each member institution in each conference-sponsored spring sport for the remainder of the academic year. Honorees were nominated for recognition by their respective institution.
Patterson played in all seven games in 2020 before the rest of the season was cancelled, registering a goal and an assist while going 85-for-167 (50.8 percent) in the face-off circle. The senior played an important role in the Gophers' three-winning streak, winning 40 of 66 (60.6 percent) in the face-off circle and was 47-for-87 (54.0 percent) in the four Goucher wins on the year. His goal with 5:31 left in the third quarter was the senior's first collegiate tally against Arcadia on March 7.
For his career, Patterson recorded a goal and two assists for three points while adding 183 ground balls, five caused turnovers and went 415-for-870 in the face-off circle.
Goucher finished the shortened season 4-3 including wins in four of its last five contests.
The Landmark Conference will also honor seniors from women's lacrosse (April 13), men's and women's tennis (April 27), men's track and field (May 4) and women's track and field (May 11).
In addition, Goucher Athletics has a plan to honor each senior that had their career cut short by COVID-19 in the coming weeks and will also salute the senior classes of the sports that were able to have a senior day too.
