ASHLAND, Va. - Host Randolph-Macon scored six times in the fourth quarter and never looked back as it eased past Goucher College 20-2 for a non-conference men's lacrosse victory Saturday afternoon at Nunnally Field.
- The Yellow Jackets (2-1) got on the board when they cashed in on their first man-up scenario 5:34 into the game.
- Randolph-Macon got goals from four different scorers as it opened up a 6-0 lead after 15 minutes.
- Goucher (0-3) goalie Justin Lugo (Davie, Fla./Saint Andrew's) made three saves in the quarter.
- The Yellow Jackets scored seven times in the frame, including a man-up goal 6:58 before halftime.
- R-MC outshot the Gophers 16-4 in the second quarter and 29-6 in the opening 30 minutes.
- Randolph-Macon scored the first four goals of the second half, including a man-up tally at the 4:12 mark.
- The Gophers got on the board with 3:39 left as Jared Halverson (Durham, N.C./Charles E. Jordan) scored off a feed from Jared Heath (Windham, N.H./New Hampton).
- Halverson scored his second goal of the game with 5:06 left, with Sam Stewart (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) assisting.
- Randolph-Macon closed out the scoring with 22 seconds left.
- The Yellow Jackets generated a 52-18 shot advantage on the afternoon and won 16-of-25 faceoffs.
- The hosts converted all three of their man-up chances while Goucher came up empty on five extra-man situations.
- Lugo made six saves in the first half. Jaden Algarin (Havre de Grace, Md./Concordia Prep) made four saves in the third quarter, while Jack Kroninger (Mendocino, Calif./Mendocino) stopped two shots in the fourth.
- Sean Nolan (Las Vegas, Nev./Faith Lutheran) had a team-high four ground balls for Goucher.
- Goucher plays its home opener Wednesday night as it hosts McDaniel in a 7 pm contest at Beldon Field.
