TOWSON, Md. - Visitint Catholic University pulled away in the second quarter after holding a 5-1 lead through the first 15 minutes and cruised to a 25-2 Landmark Conference men's lacrosse victory over Goucher College Wednesday evening at Beldon Field.
- Catholic (9-3, 5-0 Landmark) took a 2-0 lead with goals at 13:00 and 9:15.
- Goucher (2-12, 1-4) got on the board with 7:02 left in the frame as Sam Stewart (Denver, Pa./Cocalico) scored on a feed from Jared Heath (Windham, N.H./New Hampton).
- The Cardinals scored 40 seconds later and tacked on two goals in the final 1:16 to lead 5-1 after one.
- The guests scored two goals eight seconds apart to go up 7-1 13:40 before halftime.
- Catholic scored 12 times in the second with the last goal just beating the halftime horn to make it 19-1 at the break.
- Dylan White (Dagsboro, Del./Indian River) scored for the Gophers 1:21 into the second half.
- The Cardinals scored five more times in the third.
- Catholic closed out the game's scoring with tallies at 3:31 and 1:54.
- Catholic outshot Goucher 89-36, including 53-13 in the first half.
- The Cardinals had 17 different players record a goal.
- Justin Lugo (Davie, Fla./Saint Andrew's School) made nine saves in the first 23:41. Jaden Algarin (Havre de Grace, Md./Concordia Prep) made 15 saves the rest of the way.
- Kyle Ramos (Silver Spring, Md./Bethesda Chevy Chase) had five caused turnovers for Goucher while Sean Nolan (Las Vegas, Nev./Faith Lutheran) finished with three.
