Gophers Rally Past Wilkes for Road Win

EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. - Trailing 4-2 at halftime, Goucher College clamped down and outscored Wilkes University 8-1 in the second half en route to a 10-5 Landmark Conference men's lacrosse victory Saturday afternoon at Schmidt Stadium.

• Goucher (7-5, 1-3 Landmark) got on the board 39 seconds into the game on a Theo Cook IV goal.
• Wilkes (4-7, 1-3) scored twice to take a 2-1 lead with just under nine minutes left.
• Jacob Morgan tied the game with an unassisted goal with 3:31 on the clock.

• The Colonels scored at 11:28 and 9:57 while holding the Gophers scoreless to take a 4-2 lead into halftime.
• The Gophers outshot Wilkes 14-11 in the frame, but the Colonels made four saves.

• Goucher outscored Wilkes 6-0 in the third quarter as it scored of six of its nine shots in the period.
• Morgan started the scoring at the 10:11 mark.
• Tyler May scored three times in the period with his third goal coming at 2:51.
• Kevin Gearhart scored at the 9:23 mark, while Morgan added another goal with 31 seconds left in the frame.

• Wilkes got a goal back with 7:39 to play.
• May tacked on two more goals in the fourth to seal with win with scores at 6:29 and 3:39.

• Goucher outshot Wilkes 42-28, including 23-10 in the second half, and won 14 of the game's 20 faceoffs.
• May finished with a career-best five goals for his sixth multi-goal outing of the season.
• Morgan scored three times and added an assist, extending his goal scoring streak to 18 games.
• Gopher goalie Jack Smith made 12 saves.
• Aaron Butera finished 12-16 at the faceoff dot.
• Ethan Pratt and Jack McDermott each totaled two caused turnovers, with McDermott picking up a team-high five ground balls.
• Goucher's win was the fifth this season in which it trailed at halftime.
