Etown Pushes Past Gophers to Open Conference Play

TOWSON, Md. - The traveling Blue Jays of Elizabethtown College (4-4 Overall; 1-0 Conference) took down the Goucher College Gophers (6-3 Overall; 0-1 Conference) in a 17-6 contest.
- The Blue Jays opened the game with four straight goals in the first sevent and a half minutes of play.
- Jacob Morgan responded with an unassisted goal to put an end to the Blue Jays streak (6:24).
- Four minnutes later, Gianni Karam and Morgan teamed up to put another in the net for the Gophers.
- Etown finished the scoring of the quarter with 49 seconds left, putting the Blue Jays up 5-2.
- Etown opened the scoring of the second quarter, finishing a shot just 32 seconds in.
- Less than a minute later, Karam put another on the board for the Gophers off a pass from Nick Pusey.
- Karam added his third of the game from a Milan Temple pass to bring the Gophers within two (10:50).
- The Blue Jays responded with two goals in the span of three minutes.
- A minute later, Morgan added his second of the game for the Gophers (3:52).
- Etown finsihed the second quarter in similar fashion to the first, scoring with 21 seconds on the clock, bringing the score to 9-5 going into the half.
- Elizabethtown scored four unanswered goals in the third quarter
- Goucher tallied six shots, and eight ground balls.
- Tyler May scored the final goal for the Gophers with 13:53 left in the game off his own follow up.
- The Blue Jays finished the game scoring four more goals, with the final score coming at 6:31.
- Karam and Moran led the team with three points each.
- Jack Smith played the full 60 minutes and added 17 saves and six ground balls to his career total.
- The team went 6-27 on faceoffs; David Vucci going 5-21 and Jack Schiavone went 1-6.
- Sean Nolan led the team with three caused turnovers, this brings his career total to 115, putting him at second in program history.
- The Gophers were outshot 47-26 in the, but went 21-23 on clears.
- The men travel to face Scranton at 1pm on Saturday, March 29th.
- They return home to take on Wilkes on Saturday, April 5th at 1pm on Beldon Field.
