Gophers Take Down Devils to Advance to ECAC Finals

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College Gophers (10-8 Overall; 3-6 Conference) hosted the FDU-Florham Devils (10-7 Overall; 3-4 Conference) in the semifinals of the ECAC tournament. A strong second half led the Gophers to the 19-10 victory on Beldon Field.

• Goucher began the scoring early in the contest, with Gianni Karam finishing a pass from Jacob Morgan just over a minute into the game.
• Senior Milan Temple follows up shortly after to give the Gophers two off a pass from Jack Murdaugh.
• FDU-Florham score their fist of the contest with 11:04 on the clock.
• Karam and Morgan team up once again to put another past the goalie of the Devils (6:28). 
• The Devils add two quick goals to tie the game, including a goal on the man-advantage.
• With 3:07 remaining, Kevin Gearhart adds one to the board with Morgan collecting another assist. 
• First year, Scott Tayman scores an unassisted goal for his first of the game a minute and a half later; this led to a goal by Karam off the face-off with David Vucci earning the assist.

• Following a penaltly the end the first quarter, FDU-Florham scores a man-up goal just 18 seconds into the second.
• Morgan adds an unassisted goal at 12:27, giving the Gophers seven.
• The Devils add two unasissted goals within two minutes, to bring them back within one.
• After an almost five minute scoreless drought, Morgan adds another unassisted goal to the board.
• FDU-Florham responds off the face-off to once again cut the lead of the Gophers.
• Karam brings to lead back to two to end the quarter after finishing a pass from Morgan (00:18).

• The Devils add two goals to open the quarter, tying the game with 11:19 left in the quarter.
• Morgan begins a tear to give the Gophers the cushion they need, scoring four goals within two and a half minutes. The first goal came off an assist from Jack Smith by catching the Devils goalie out of position on a clear. 
• With 4:14 remaining in the quarter, Tayman adds another for the Gophers off an unassisted shot.
• Less than a minute later, Karam and Morgan team up again for the final goal of the quarter.

• Morgan adds two more unassisted goals in the final quarter, to give him eight in the contest.
• FDU-Florham scores their final goal with 11:03 remaining in the contest.
• At 8:44, Murdaugh finds the back of the net off a long shot from a James Dean pass.
• Tayman scores the final goal of the evening at the 4:57 mark.

• Morgan led the teams in points, playing a part in 13 (8g, 5a) of the Gophers 19 goals. 
• Karam followed with five goals.
• FDU-Florham outshot the Gophers 44-38 and collected more ground balls (39-32). The Gophers went 30-33 on clears, while the Devils went 19-22. 
• Smith played all 60 minutes in net, tallying 14 saves.
• The Gophers went 9-32 on the faceoff, with Vucci going 3-19, Nick Pusey went 5-10, and Jack Schiavone went 1-3. Pusey also led the team with six ground balls.
• Sean Nolan led the Gophers with four caused turnovers. Nick Gambone and DJ Barnes followed closelt behind with three each.

• With the win in the semifinals, the Gophers travel to face Westminster College (No. 1 seed) on Sunday, May 11th. The time of the contest is yet to be announced.
