Instead, the Gophers suffered their fourth 1-0 loss of the season and this one to the Royals ended their chances at earning one of the four spots in the upcoming Landmark Conference championship tournament.
Tim Logan's goal at 6:30 was set up by Michael Drew. It was the senior forward's team-leading eighth goal of the season and 25th of his career.
The Royals (8-6-1, 4-3 Landmark) finished with a 12-10 edge on shots.
The Gophers (5-9-1, 1-4-1 Landmark) were awarded five corner kicks to just one for Scranton.
Sophmore goalkeeper Justin Holbrook (Claymont, DE/Wilmington Friends School) made seven saves for Goucher and lowered his goals-against average to 1.84.
