Blue Jays Earn Title by Pinning 7-0 Setback on Gophers
TOWSON, Md. — Goucher fell behind 2-0 before today's game against Johns Hopkins was even six minutes old. The Blue Jays were able to tack on two more goals before the first half came to an end and three additional goals during the second period to earn a 7-0 victory over the Gophers that made them champions of the 2011 Goucher Soccer Classic.
Pair of Freshmen Defenders Represent Goucher on All-Tournament Team

Sean Coleman put the Blue Jays (1-0-1) up 1-0 with an unassisted goal at 4:56 and Birin Padam followed :56 later with a goal that was set up by Sean Duggan. Seven different players got into the scoring act for Johns Hopkins as Tony Gass and Sam Glassman tallied goals at 26:26 and 35:44, respectively; Simon Rojas, Andrew Clayton and Alvin Onyewuenya each stuck a goal during the final 45:00.
The Blue Jays finished with a decisive 36-5 advantage in shots.
By virtue of their 1-0 triumph over Penn St. Berks on Saturday, head coach Bryan Laut's Gophers (1-2) placed third in the tournament. Goucher placed two players on the all-tournament team: freshmen defenders Hudson Bielecki (Olivebridge, N.Y./Onteora) and Brandon Weiner (Derwood, Md./Col. Zadok A. Magruder).
