Baum Comes In to Make Four Saves, Keeps Fords from Adding to Lead
HAVERFORD, Pa. — In a game in which all the scoring was confined to the first half, Goucher bowed to Haverford, 4-0, on the opening day of the 2011 Jimmy Mills Tournament.
The Fords (2-1) enjoyed a 1-0 advantage before the game was even one minute old on a goal by Adam Morollo. Goals by Matt Wetherell at 8:20 and David Restrepo at 17:54 bumped the lead up to 3-0.
Tyler Freeman's unassisted goal at 42:07 closed out the scoring.
The Gophers (1-3) changed goalkeepers at the start of the second half and Steve Baum (Fallston, Md./Fallston) kept Haverford off the scoreboard over the final 45:00 by making four saves.
The Fords finished with a 25-2 edge in shots.
