Gophers Finish Above .500 for First Time Since 1992
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Goucher spotted Moravian a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute of today's Landmark Conference match, but the Gophers were able to pull even prior to halftime on a successful penalty kick by Nate Margolis and then went ahead to stay on an unassisted goal by Parker Bay in the 63rd minute as they wrapped up their 2013 season with a 3-1 victory over the Greyhounds.

By winning, the Gophers (8-7-3, 2-3-2 Landmark) finished above .500 for the first time since 1992.
Jeffrey Algor's goal at 18:05 that was assisted by Brett Harder and Saul Marcial put the Greyhounds (7-9-2, 0-7 Landmark) on top, 1-0, but they were able to hold on to the lead for just over seven minutes before Margolis converted his fifth penalty kick of the season at 25:06.
Bay put Goucher ahead 2-1 at 62:12 after beating a defender on a 50-50 ball and depositing a ball into the left side netting for his fifth goal of the season.
John Sturgis (Severn, Md./Archbishop Spalding) set up the Gophers' third goal at 80:13 with a through ball that led to a one-time shot into the right side netting by Marco Grotti (Milmay, N.J./Millville). It was Grotti's first goal of the season.
Nicholas Stolarz (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) played all 90 minutes in goal for Goucer and was credited with five saves.
In 1992, the Gophers went 13-5-1 under the direction of head coach Steve Hornish. Since then, their best record for a season until this year was 9-9 in 2006.
