TOWSON, Md. — Daniel Hendry (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) became only the fourth goalkeeper in the 27-year history of Goucher's men's soccer program to earn all-conference honors when the 2015 All-Landmark Conference Men's Soccer Team was released this morning.
Hendry, a freshman who started all 18 games in goal for the Gophers, was one of 12 players that were placed on this year's All-Landmark second team through balloting by the conference's eight head coaches. An equal number of players made the first team; Hendry was Goucher's only representative on the select squad.
There wasn't a goalkeeper in the Landmark Conference with more saves this season than Hendry's total of 106. He earned four shutouts, including one where he made six saves to hekp the Gophers pin a 1-0 setback on Scranton, the team which went on to win the conference title in 2015.
He finished with a 1.87 goals-against average.
"It's a great honor for Dan to be selected to the all-conference team, particularly as a freshman," commented head coach Bryan Laut. "You can easily see how much he grew as a person and a goalkeeper during the year. His play, especially during the stretch run in the league, was top class and gave us an amazing opportunity to repeat as a playoff team. We are excited for his continued growth and development as a player."
