Men's Soccer Falls, 3-0, to Hood on Soggy Sunday
TOWSON, Md. - In a match played in steady rain and wind, visiting Hood scored two goals in the first half, one more in the second, and kept the Goucher men's soccer team off the scoreboard all match in a 3-0 win at soaked Beldon Field on Sunday.

TOWSON, Md. - In a match played in steady rain and wind, visiting Hood scored two goals in the first half, one more in the second, and kept the Goucher men's soccer team off the scoreboard all match in a 3-0 win at soaked Beldon Field on Sunday.
With the defeat, Goucher dropped to 0-3-1 overall for the year, while Hood improved to 2-1-1 with the win.
In the opening half of the contest, Goucher was the aggressor on offense, firing four shots (to just one for Hood) in the first 20 minutes of the period. But, the Gophers were unable to score and witnessed Hood score the first goal of the contest in the 29th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
Later in the half, Hood converted a successful penalty kick to take a 2-0 lead that held into intermission. After being outshot, 7-5, in the first half, Goucher went on to outshoot Hood, 8-5, in the second half. Unfortunately, the Gophers were unable to score, as Hood tallied the third and final goal of the match in the 62nd minute.
Overall in the defeat, Goucher held a 13-12 advantage in shots, as well as a 5-4 edge in corner kicks. Junior Brandon Cohen (Redondo Beach, Calif.) fired the most shots on the day for the Gophers with four, while in net, senior Daniel Hendry (Lewisburg, Pa.) made four saves on the afternoon.
The Goucher College men's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, hosting Alvernia at Beldon Field. Action gets underway at 7 p.m.
