The Goucher College men's and women's soccer teams have earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2017-18 academic year, according to a release from the organization on Thursday.
The Team Academic Award recognizes teams with a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.0 for the entire academic year.
Goucher was one of 191 institutions to have both men's and women's programs earn the Team Academic Award. A total of 773 college teams (289 men, 484 women) from all three NCAA divisions across the country were honored on Thursday.
Head coach Stephanie Rickett's women's soccer team compiled a 3.44 GPA in the 2017-18 academic year to garner the Team Academic Award. Meanwhile, head coach Bryan Laut's men's squad posted a 3.10 GPA last year to earn the Team Academic Award.
The United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award was established in 1996 under the organizations previous name of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
