Daniel Hendry Nabs Landmark Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week Honors
TOWSON, Md. - Senior goalie Daniel Hendry (Lewisburg, Pa.) of the Goucher College men’s soccer team put together one of his best performances of the season when the Gophers needed it the most on Saturday against Susquehanna, and for his efforts, he was named the Landmark Conference’s Defensive Athlete of the Week today.
TOWSON, Md. - Senior goalie Daniel Hendry (Lewisburg, Pa.) of the Goucher College men's soccer team put together one of his best performances of the season when the Gophers needed it the most on Saturday against Susquehanna, and for his efforts, he was named the Landmark Conference's Defensive Athlete of the Week today.
For Hendry, this marks the second time in his career at Goucher that he has earned Landmark Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week accolades, nabbing the honor back in Sep. of 2016, as well.
On Saturday, Hendry was terrific in a 1-0 shutout victory over Susquehanna, a win that kep the Gophers' Landmark Conference playoff chances alive.
In the shutout - which was Hendry's 16th of his career, matching a program-record - the senior keeper made six saves alone in the second half to preserve the win. With another save in the first half, Hendry ended the day with seven saves, his third highest total of the 2018 campaign.
On the year, Hendry has made 63 saves and posted a goals against average 151 for the 2018 season.
Hendry and the rest of the Goucher College men's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, as they host Catholic in a big Landmark Conference match at Beldon Field. Action gets underway at 7 p.m.
