TOWSON, Md. - In a match played in a steady rain and wind, Moravian's Alex Aloia's goal six minutes into the first overtime period lifted the visiting Greyhounds to a 1-0 win over Goucher on Saturday in Landmark Conference action.
With the defeat in their 2018 season finale, Goucher finishes the year with a 5-12-1 overall mark, while Moravian improved to 7-8-2 and 4-3 in the Landmark with the win, that clinched a Landmark playoff spot for the Greyhounds.
Before the game, the Gophers honored their 2018 senior class, which includes Daniel Hendry (Lewisburg, Pa.), Dalen Thompson (Maplewood, N.J.), and Jake Guinn (Spring Grove, Pa.).
In the match, both teams had opportunities to score all match, as Hendry was outstanding in his final game in a Goucher uniform, making seven saves on the day (five in the first half and two in the second). Overall, Moravian ended the day with a 10-7 edge on shots, while Goucher held a sizable 10-6 advantage on corner kicks.
With his seven save performance, Hendry ends his Goucher career with 390 saves, the second highest mark in the history of the Goucher College men's soccer program all-time.
