Gophers Forge Tie With River Hawks in Season Finale

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Goucher College men's soccer team wrapped up its season with a 1-1 tie against Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference action Saturday afternoon. Xavier Dever (Hollywood, Md. / Leonardtown) scored his fourth goal of the season.
- The first shot of the game by Goucher's (6-9-3, 2-4-1 Landmark) Bobby Beringer (Okinawa, Japan / Richard Montgomery) was blocked in the seventh minute.
- Susquehanna's (9-7-2, 3-2-2) first shot of the game just past the nine-minute mark sailed high.
- Michael Morelli gave the River Hawks a 1-0 lead just past the 18-minute mark as he scored his ninth goal of the season.
- Jeremiah Odubade (Capital Heights, Md. / Fairmont Heights) had two back-to-back shots saved by Susquehanna goalie Gerrit Stech at the 28-minute mark.
- Goucher goalie Jeff Castro (Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey/Egg Harbor Township) made a save on a bid by Adrian Dilascio in the 33rd minute.
- Dever put a shot on frame that was saved by Stech with just over five minutes left.
- Just over seven minutes into the second half, an initial shot by Odubade was saved by Stech, but the rebound came out to Dever who put it away to tie the game 1-1.
- Odubade put another shot on goal that was saved by Stech in the 60th minute.
- Aidan Spoor (Milton, Del. / Cape Henlopen) saw two attempts in the 74th and 76th minutes stopped by Stech.
- Castro made three saves in the final 15 minutes of regulation.
- Beringer had the only shot of the first 10-minute overtime that went wide.
- Castro made a pair of saves in the second overtime, the second coming with just over five minutes left.
- Dever had a shot with 30 seconds left that was deflected, giving the Gophers a corner kick, but the guests could not come up with another shot in the final seconds.
- Susquehanna held a 21-15 shot advantage and an 8-5 lead in corner kicks on the afternoon.
- Castro made eight saves for Goucher, while Stech recorded seven stops.
- Odubade led the Gophers with five shots, while Dever recorded four.
- Odubade ends the regular season leading the Landmark Conference in goals (11) and points (25).
- Goucher recorded its highest victory total since 2017.
