BALTIMORE - First year Aquila De Carvalho scored with 2:14 remaining to lift the Goucher College men's soccer team to a 3-2 non-conference victory at Notre Dame of Maryland University Sunday afternoon at Alumnae Field.
- Notre Dame (0-1) had two shots on goal in the first seven minutes that were turned aside.
- Aquila De Carvalho had Goucher's (1-0-1) first shot in the 12th minute that was saved by Gator goalie Mateo Gularte.
- Paul Van Engeland had a shot on goal in the 20th minute.
- Peer Ewerbeck scored with just under 16 minutes left in the first half to put NDMU up 1-0.
- Goucher put three more shots on goal the remainder of the half but Gularte saved them all as the Gators led at the break.
- Michael Adekanmbi scored his second goal of the season 1:22 into the second half to tie the game 1-1, with Jonathan Alvarado assisting.
- Alvarado had a bid stopped by Gularte two minutes later.
- The Gators converted a penalty kick in the 52nd minute to go up 2-1.
- 2:12 later, Alvarado knotted the game 2-2 with his unassisted goal.
- Adekanmbi had a shot saved in the 57th minute, while Alvarado rang the crossbar a minute later.
- In the 84th minute, Adekanmbi had a shot saved by Gularte.
- With 2:30 left, Alvarado had a shot saved.
- Moments later, De Carvalho scored his first career goal with Adekanmbi assisting to put the Gophers in front.
- Goucher outshot Notre Dame 27-9, including 18-3 in the second half.
