The Royals (2-2, 1-0 Landmark) allowed head coach Michael Vann's squad to win only three sets during the doubles competition. Joe Morra and Mike Pannone combined for an 8-0 win over Austin Prince (Oakland, Calif./Oakland Technical) and John Bescoby (San Marino, Calif./Maranatha) at No. 1 and Tim McGurrin and Bennett Kelley prevailed 8-1 over David Spivey (Cockeysville, Md./The Park School) and Nick Pelensky (Billings, Mont./Billings) at No. 2. Brett Blackman (Philadelphia, Pa./J.R. Masterman) and Pat Murnin (Salt Lake City, Utah/East) fell at No. 3 to Jonathan Russo and Brian Williams, 8-2.
Spivey suffered a 6-4, 6-1 setback to McGurrin at No. 1 singles.
