Men's Tennis Earns Second Consecutive Sweep
The Goucher College men’s tennis team (11-8, Landmark 3-1) earned its second consecutive sweep with a 9-0 win over Catholic University on the road Wednesday evening.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Goucher College men's tennis team (11-8, Landmark 3-1) earned its second consecutive sweep with a 9-0 win over Catholic University on the road Wednesday evening.
The Gophers took all three doubles matches over the Cardinals. Freshman Michael Herman (Prague, Czech Republic) and Elliot Diehl (York, Pa.) took home a win at No.1 singles, 8-4. Senior Midori Fujitani (Tokyo, Japan) and junior Jack Hodges (London, England) tacked onto their Goucher College record in team doubles wins, earning an 8-5 victory over Ted Tiu and Jack Emerick.
Sophomore Josiah Meekins (Trenton, N.J.) and freshman Frankie Mullinix (Washington, D.C.) dominated at No. 3 doubles, 8-0.
Hodges made quick work of his opponent at No. 1 singles, earning a decisive 6-2, 6-2 win. Herman, Fujitani, Meekins and freshman Slade Dumas (Great Falls, Va.) also had significant wins over their opponents. Mullinix and Tiu slugged out a conflict, but Mullinix came out on top with the 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.
