EWING TOWNSHIP, N.J. - No. 34 TCNJ swept doubles action, then took five of the six singles matches contested over the Goucher College men's tennis team on Friday to knock off the Gophers, 8-1.
With the defeat, Goucher dropped to 8-2 on the year, while TCNJ improved to 3-0 with the victory.
On the day, TCNJ got off to a fast start with their sweep of doubles matches, going up 3-0 entering singles. It was more of the same in singles action, as the host Lions captured five matches, all of which in straight sets.
Goucher, however, did not go out quietly on the afternoon, as sophomore Slade Dumas (Great Falls, Va.) gutted out a come-from-behind three-set win (3-6, 7-6, 10-3) in the fourth spot of the singles lineup.
It'll be a quick turnaround for the Goucher College men's tennis team, as the Gophers host their first home matches of the spring season on Saturday on-campus. First, the Gophers will take on Harford Community College at 9 a.m., which will be followed up by a meeting with St. Mary's (Md.) at 3 p.m.
