Men’s Tennis Blanks Susquehanna in Landmark Conference Opener, 9-0
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - The Goucher College men’s tennis team opened their Landmark Conference season in style on Saturday at Susquehanna, as the Gophers shutout the host Riverhawks, 9-0.

With the win, Goucher improved to 14-3 overall, and 1-0 in the Landmark, while Susquehanna fell to 5-3 and 0-1 in the Landmark with the defeat.
The Gophers got started fast in doubles play, where they won all three matches contested.
At number one, the tandem of first-year Tetsuya Ota (Winter Park, Fla.) and senior Jack Hodges (London, England) posted an 8-2 win, which was the same score sophomore Frankie Mullinix (Washington, D.C.) and junior Elliot Diehl (York, Pa.) won by at number two.
In the number three spot of doubles, senior's Britton Shortle (Winter Park, Fla.) and Jake Brazeau (Greenville, S.C.) rolled to an 8-3 win to complete the sweep and put Goucher up, 3-0.
In singles play, it was more of the same for the Gophers.
Hodges became a two-time winner on the day with a 6-1, 6-0 at number one, which was followed up by a 6-4, 6-2 win by sophomore Michael Herman (Prague, Czech Republic) at number two.
In the number three spot of singles, sophomore Slade Dumas (Great Falls, Va.) rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 victory, while junior Josiah Meekins (Trenton, N.J.) was a 7-5, 6-2 victor at number four.
Goucher then completed the sweep with two more straight sets wins in the final two spots of the singles line-up. At number five, senior Josh Goldberg (Centreville, Md.) posted a 7-5, 6-2 win, while in the final spot of the line-up, first-year Daniel Kim (Arlington, Mass.) coasted to a 6-1, 6-4 victory.
The Goucher College men's tennis team returns to action on Saturday, April 7th, when they travel to Scranton for a key Landmark Conference match-up on the road. Action gets underway at 1 p.m.
