HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Goucher College men's tennis team was swept by Haverford College 9-0 in non-conference play Thursday afternoon at the Bramall Courts.
- The Fords (9-7) jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a sweep of doubles over the Gophers (6-9).
- Gabe Naftoly (Newburyport, Mass./Berwick Academy) and Theo Lucke (Ahlen, Germany / Städtisches Gymnasium Ahlen) dropped the closest match, falling 8-3 at No. 3.
- Five of the six singles contests were decided in straight sets.
- Tadeo Asprella (La Plata, Argentina / Instituto Jose Manuel Estrada) forced a third set at No. 4 before falling 6-4, 4-6, 10-0.
- Asprella saw his seven-match singles win streak snapped.
- The Fords, who are ranked No. 17 regionally, are coached by former Goucher coach Eric Spangler.
- Goucher closes out the regular season Friday, traveling to Juniata for a 4 pm match.
- The Gophers are locked into the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference Championship and will host a semifinal on Tuesday, April 25.
