Gophers Split on Third Day of Florida Trip

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Goucher College men's tennis team split a pair of matches on Tuesday at the USTA National Campus. The Gophers downed Huntingdon 9-0, but came up short against Oglethorpe in a 6-3 loss.

Goucher (4-6) took one of the three doubles matches and two of the six singles matchups againt Oglethorpe.
At No. 2 doubles, Angel Cerpa and Benedikt Rummel won 8-7 (7-4).
Tadeo Asprella won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2, in the No. 3 singles matchup.
At No. 5 singles, Cerpa earned another win for the Gophers, 7-6 (8-6), 6-0.

The Gophers swept Huntingdon 9-0
Calis Nguyen and Gabe Naftoly won 8-6 in the No.1 doubles matchup.
Cerpa and Rummel earned another doubles victory on the day, with an 8-2 win.
Manny Vidal and Jackson Beam won the final doubles matchup 8-5.
Ethan Katz won in the No. 4 singles matchup, 6-3, 6-2.
Naftoly, Cerpa, Nguyen, Beam and Vidal all added wins in the singles matchups for the Gophers.

Goucher earned their second win of the spring, their first since the season opener against Marymount.
Cerpa went 4-0 on the day, with Rummel going 2-0 in matchups.

Goucher returns to action Wednesday at 5:30 pm, facing Luther at the USTA National Campus.
