Browne Surpasses Gautier's School Record in 400-Meter Dash
SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Goucher produced the top performers in the high jump and pole vault competitions at the Susquehanna Invitational today.
Freshman Doug Falk (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat Twp.) placed first in the high jump as he was the only competitor in a field of eight able to clear 6-feet. Senior Chris Litz (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) went out at 14-feet, 6-inches in the pole vault as did Susquehanna's Robert Eppelman, but Litz was awarded first place based on fewer unsuccessful attempts.
Freshman Troy Browne (Springdale, Md./C.H. Flowers) and junior Joey Negreann (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) both set new indoor school records. The record Browne broke was in the 400-meter dash, which he completed in :52.82, good for fourth place. The previous fastest time in school history in that event was the :54.02 by freshman Brian Gautier (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat Twp.) back in December. Negreann posted the fastest indoor time in school history and placed 12th overall in the mile. His time of 4:39.67 was nearly five seconds faster than the former mark of 4:44.40 established last season by Adam Scipione (Walpole, Mass./Walpole).
