CARLISLE, Pa. — Based only on his performance at today's Dickinson Early Bird Invitational, Miles Taylor (Bowie, Md./Wakefield) owns the top two all-time fastest times in the 55-meter hurdles in the history of Goucher's indoor track and field program.
During the preliminaries, Taylor broke a school record that had stood since 2008 when he completed the event in 8.54 seconds. In the finals, he lowered his time to :08.42, which was good for second place. The freshman finished 13-hundredths of a second behind Jeremiah Ratliff from Hood (:08.29).
Taylor also took eighth place in the 400-meter run, but he wasn't Goucher's top finisher in that event. Eli Schwartz (Berkeley, Calif./Berkeley) placed seventh with his time of 58.03 seconds, while Taylor was clocked at :59.04.
Kyle Kihn (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) placed seventh overall in the triple jump with a distance of 10.6 meters (34'-9.5").
The Gophers, who won't compete again until the Collegeville (Pa.) Classic on Jan. 23, wound up in sixth place in the team standings with a score of 13 points.
