Men’s Track & Field Opens 2016-17 Season
2016-17 Goucher College Men's Track & Field Team opened it's indoor campaign today at Susquehanna River Hawk Opener

SELINSGROVE, PA. - 2016-17 Goucher College Men's Track & Field Team opened it's indoor campaign today at Susquehanna River Hawk Opener. Competing with only first year students and sophomores, the Gophers got off to a good start.
- Led by first year runner Ogemdi Chukwa,won the 60 meter hurdles and broke the school record in the trials, running a time of 8.76. He won the final 8.83, which is the second fastest time ever. Team mate and former record holder sophomore Miles Taylor finished 5th with a time 9.60.
- In the throws, first year thrower Darby Bauer , placed 5th in the shot put with a throw of 11.17 meters (36-07.3/4) and 6tth place in the weight throw 10.64 (34-11). His weight throw tied for 9th on the all-tine Goucher top 10 list.
- Chukwa finished 10th in the long jump with a jump of 5.92 m (19-05.25). That jump was 10th on the all-time list.
- In the relays the 4x200 meter team of Chukwa, 1st year Hanson Oguike (Archbishop Curley, Baltimore), 1st year Gunther Wallach, and Taylor finished 4th with a time 1:37.85. In the men's 4x400, the team of Taylor, Javaunte Neumann, Xavier Coggenshall, and Wallach ran 3:44.49 and placing 5th.
The Gopher will now take some time off and prepare for exams. They will return to action after winter break competing at Susquehanna on Saturday January 21st.
