Bauer, Chukwu and Sullivan Top Performers for Men’s Track & Field at River Hawks Opener
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Sophomores Ogemdi Chukwu (Paris, France/Arlington) and Darby Bauer (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown Area), along with first-year Brian Sullivan posted high finishes in their respective events, leading the Goucher College men’s track & field team at the River Hawks Opener held at Susquehanna on Friday evening.
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Sophomores Ogemdi Chukwu (Paris, France/Arlington) and Darby Bauer (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown Area), along with first-year Brian Sullivan posted high finishes in their respective events, leading the Goucher College men's track & field team at the River Hawks Opener held at Susquehanna on Friday evening.
In his first collegiate event, Sullivan qualified for the finals in the 60-meter dash and finished fourth overall in the finals with a time of 7.35. He nabbed a spot in the final round of the event with a sixth-place finish in preliminaries (7.41).
Chukwu was also able to qualify for the finals of the 60-meter dash, finishing in fourth in the preliminaries in 7.35. In the finals, Chukwu placed fifth, crossing the finish line in 7.61 to register a top-five finish for the Gophers.
Bauer, meanwhile, posted the fourth best performance in indoor program history in the weight throw on the night, as his throw of 39 feet, 7.75 inches was good enough for a sixth-place finish overall in the event.
Sullivan also finished 10th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.27 to round out the top performances on the evening for Goucher.
The Goucher College men's track & field team will now be idle for the Holiday season, returning to action on January 20 at the Collegeville Classic held at Ursinus.
