MECHANICSBURG, Pa - For the second straight week, sophomore Darby Bauer (Perkiomenville, Pa.) etched his name into the Goucher College men's track & field record books, as he led the Gophers on the day at the Messiah Invitational on Saturday.
Bauer, who last week broke a 13-year old mark in the discus, snapped the school's outdoor record in the hammer throw with a 134 foot, four-inch effort to finish seventh overall. Bauer also had a 35 foot, 11.25-inch effort in the shot put, which was good enough for a 19th place finish.
Elsewhere, first-year Devon Esslinger (Las Cruces, N.M.) once again had a had finish in the 100-meter hurdles, placing sixth in 16.78. Rounding out the top finishes on the men's side was fellow first-year Brian Sullivan (Lake Forest, Ill.), who placed 10th in the 200-meter dash in 23.60.
The Goucher College men's track & field team returns to action on Saturday, as they head to Gettysburg for the Mason-Dixon Track & Field Invitational.
