Esslinger And Gunter Pace Goucher Track And Field At Jim Taylor Invitational
SELINGROVE, Pa. – Devon Esslinger (Las Cruces, N.M./Las Cruces) and Taylor Gunter (Laurel, Md./Sandy Spring Friends School) both had multiple finishes In the Top-12 to power the Goucher College track and field team at the Jim Taylor Invitational on Saturday. It was a highly competitive meet with teams from NCAA Division I, II and III in attendance.
Esslinger had the top finish on the day with a seventh-place standing in the triple jump after extending his already program record with a leap of 12.59m while also finishing 12th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.70. Gunter had herself a day in the throws, placing ninth in the shot put with a hurl of 11.14m, 11th in the discus with a chuck of 35.87m and 12th in the hammer with a toss of 40.37m. Her throw in the discus was a personal best and ranks third in program history while she will have the top throws in the outdoor season for the shot put and discus and second best in the hammer.
Anna Gallina (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) finished 10th in the 200m (28.26) and 15th in the 100m (13.54) while Sydney Smith (Falls Church, Va./George Mason HS) was 18th in the 200m (28.94) and 25th in the 100m (14.14).
Mikayla Hinnant (Waldorf, Md./Westlake) finished 17th in the shot put (10.04m), 31st in the discus (28.51m) and 47th in the hammer (21.00m).
Hannah Brogan (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) placed 20th in the 3000m steeplechase (14:32.17) and 47th in the 800m (3:17.27) while Jennifer Alves (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) was 23rd in the 400m (1:12.30).
Also on the men's side, Langston Henry (New York, N.Y./Grace Church School) was 20th in the 400m hurdles (1:09.77) while Miles (Mia) Taylor (Bowie, Md./Wakefield) placed 20th in the 110m hurdles (18.83) and 61st in the 200m (26.41).
Darby Bauer (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown Area) finished 25th in the javelin (36.31m) and Brandon Julot (Baltimore, Md./The SEED School of Maryland) placed 27th in the discus (33.27m) while Kai Miller (Harlem, N.Y.) was 27th in the 400m (57.34) and 51st in the 200m (25.51).
Joel Gladney (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) finished 28th in the shot put (10,70m) while Connor Lawrence (North Potomac, Md./Woolton) was 52nd in the 1500m and 59th in the 800m (2:36.26) and Matthew Knudson (Washington, D.C./E.L. Haynes) was 60th in the 800m (2:54.76).
Goucher returns to the track at the Battlefield Relays on Friday and Saturday.
